Join us at CEM16 in Busan!

As part of the Clean Energy Ministerial, the NEXT group hosts a side-event together with the Global Renewables Alliance and SEMI-EC on the Power Sector Transformation in Asia: Strategies for a Renewable Future and Grid Flexibility.

This side event will explore how to transform power systems in East and Southeast Asia to enable higher renewable energy integration, directly supporting the global RE 3X pledge. The session will begin with a regional overview (Agora Energiewende), followed by a focused case study on South Korea (NEXT group). A panel discussion will explore practical strategies to overcome barriers to renewable deployment, with particular emphasis on grid flexibility and energy storage systems (ESS) as key enablers.

Objectives:

  • Demonstrate that ambitious renewable integration in Asia, especially in South Korea, is achievable and essential to RE 3X.
  • Present actionable solutions to grid-related challenges through flexibility and ESS.

Date/time: August 26 (Tues), 13:00-14:00

Venue: BEXCO Busan, South Korea, Room 214+215

Speakers: Bruce Douglas (GRA), Mentari Pujantoro (Agora Energiewende), AliIzadi-Najafabadi (BNEF), Alex Perera (WRI), Eunsung Kim (NEXT group), Soyoung Jang (SEMI-EC)
