On August 26th, the CEM16 Side Event, "Power Sector Transformation in Asia: Strategies for a Renewable Future and Grid Flexibility," hosted by NEXT group in partnership with the SEMI-Energy Collaborative(SEMI-EC) and the Global Renewables Alliance(GRA), successfully concluded with over 60 energy experts from Korea and abroad in attendance.
On August 26th, the CEM16 Side Event, "Power Sector Transformation in Asia: Strategies for a Renewable Future and Grid Flexibility," hosted by NEXT group in partnership with the SEMI-Energy Collaborative(SEMI-EC) and the Global Renewables Alliance(GRA), successfully concluded with over 60 energy experts from Korea and abroad in attendance.
In his opening remarks, Seungwan Kim, CEO of NEXT group, emphasized Korea's leading role in Asia's clean energy transition, stating, "Asia already accounts for half of global energy demand. What we do here will shape much of the world’s clean energy future."
The presentation session featured insightful discussions, with Mentari Pujantoro from Agora Energiewende speaking on "Scaling up renewables in Southeast and East Asia," and Eunsung Kim, Director at NEXT group, presenting on "Turning Challenge into Opportunity: Korea as a Catalyst for Asia's Clean Energy Acceleration."
The panel discussion, moderated by Rachel Eun Ko, Director at NEXT group, featured a lively debate on the challenges and solutions for Asia's renewable energy transition. The distinguished panelists included Ali Izadi-Najafabadi(Head of APAC research for BloombergNEF), Soyoung Jang(Senior Manager, SEMI-EC), Alex Perera(Deputy-Director, World Resources Institute/Asia Clean Energy Coalition), Eunsung Kim, and Mentari Pujantoro.
Finally, Julia Souder, CEO of the Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) Council, concluded the event by stressing the importance of the Asia Clean Energy Coalition. "I truly believe that the ideas shared today will inspire real action and stronger cooperation," she remarked.
Through this event, NEXT group, along with its partners, has once again demonstrated its global leadership by creating a vital platform for discussions on Asia's clean energy transition.
